You should have a bigger imagination. From the standpoint of modern design, which is (often) meant to emphasize functionality, using logs is needlessly complicated. Log cabins were originally built out of logs out of necessity, but we no longer have that necessity. One could build a cabin out of logs for aesthetics, but, personally, I would consider that kitsch.
I actually wish cinderblock were more prevalent in modern design. Its stigma as a low class building material seems to be rejected by too few modern architects. A cinderblock house is much more affordable than a house made out of poured concrete.
It should be noted that brick houses were once looked down upon as utilitarian and low class by the ultra wealthy.
