I disagree. Great modern designs of the 1920s still stand up today as icons of style. The [Barcelona chair](http://www.knoll.com/product/barcelona-chair), and Le Cornusier’s [LC4 chaise longue](http://cassina.com/en/collection/sofas-and-armchairs/lc4) were designed in the 1920s, are still being produced, are widely copied, and still look gorgeous.
Frank Lloyd Wright’s 1936-1939 [Fallingwater](http://www.fallingwater.org) is a stunning modern landmark that still looks fresher than almost any home built today.
Good design that looks forward stands up better than design that attempts to recreate the past.
